Goodbye February…

So, I’m currently lying in bed finishing up this post because I wanted to stick to my blogging schedule and get it up today, but I’m so tired and I don’t really know what to say. February is the shortest month of the year but a lot of stuff happened and I managed to blog quite a bit which I’m happy about. I also managed to read a bit and I got quite a decent book haul. So, while I still have the energy and I don’t fall asleep with my fairy lights on, let’s just get into this post shall we?

 

Books I read this month

I told myself this month that I’d be happy if I just got Crooked Kingdom read, since it’s quite a big book and the month is short, plus my reading isn’t the fastest these days. However, in the last eight days I also managed to read Caraval, which brought my reading total of the year up to 5 books so far!

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

Crooked Kingdom was everything I hoped it would be and more. It carried on so well from Six of Crows, and It was amazing getting back into the world and learning more about my favourite characters. There were some plot lines I did not see coming, and the action was just as great as the first book. I’m sad that it’s over but I’m glad it ended as well as it did (although I’m hoping Leigh will right a set of novellas showing where all the characters are at after Crooked Kingdom).

Caraval by Stephanie Garber

After seeing Caraval everywhere for months now, I finally caved in and bought it in February and read it in the last few days. I absolutely loved and flew through it (you can find my review for this amazing book here), and I’m so glad it lived up to the hype for me!

 

Books Bought

 Similar to last month, I didn’t mean to haul this many books, but there were lots of good deals happening at target and my hospital gift shop had some seriously cheap books again… so I had to get them. I ended up hauling a total of 14 books but I think they all came to under $100!

March TBR

This month, the one book I’d really like to finish is A Conjuring of Light by V.E.Schwab. I’ve already started it and it’s absolutely amazing so far but it’s a pretty huge book and March is going to be busy I think, so I’ll be happy if I just get this one book finished.

If I do manage to get it done before the end of the month, I think I might start King’s Cage, which is the third book in the Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard.

 

Spoonie Stuff and Life in February

 I got accepted into an Intensive Pain Therapy clinic (probably the wrong title but close enough) that runs for two full days a week for six weeks. It’s an alternative to an admission and I think will start some time next term. I am busy doing all the forms and meetings/review appointments at the moment to prepare for it though, which is pretty exhausting.

It combines group sessions as well as individual ones and I’ll be working with the whole adolescent team, such as doctors, OT’s, physios and psychologists. It’s pretty scary to think about but my OT thinks it will be really good for me and worth all the hard work and pain.

 

My O.T. had her last session with me as she’s leaving her job to travel the world. It was very sad saying goodbye as she’s been so amazing this past year and has been the person I have seen the most apart from my parents. She’s been there through the ups and a lot of downs and I’m really going to miss her, and all of her random jokes. Hopefully I get to see her one day in the future when I am recovered.

 

One of my best friends recorded a couple of songs and gave me a copy of them to listen to. She has an amazing voice and I really hope that she does something with her talent because her songs are original and were just so good. I’ve still got them stuck in my head as I’m writing this (in a good way).

 

I haven’t been back to school much yet as it took me ages to recover from the ball and I’m not really 100% recovered yet even now. I’m also still working out my timetable, but I have been back a couple of times and it was really good seeing my friends and just being in the school (I also returned some library books which is always a nice feeling).

 

My mum and I booked tickets to see the preview ‘Girl’s Night Out’ screening of Beauty and the Beast on the 22^nd of March and I’m SO excited! We didn’t think we would be able to get tickets this late, and even though the cinema was mostly booked, one of the advantages of being in a wheelchair is that no one books those seats so we managed to get some! We even get a goodie bag and magazine! I don’t know how I’m going to wait until then!

 

I know that was a pretty patchy record of the things that happened to me in February but it went by so quickly I can’t really remember all the things that happened and some stuff hadn’t changed since January!
